Kinds of trip
Trip types.
The shapes a safari can take — from the first-timer's classic to the return traveller's multi-country expedition. Each is a starting point, not a template.
Every trip starts with a shape.
The eight archetypes below cover the overwhelming majority of trips we design. Pick the one that most resembles the holiday you have in mind — we'll refine everything else in conversation.

The trip people book first
Classic Safari
A private 4x4, a driver-guide, two or three parks, and lodges that get the basics emphatically right. The first safari most of our travellers take — and often the one they measure every future trip against.

The best beds in Africa
Luxury Lodge Safari
Small, owner-run camps and flagship lodges — Singita, andBeyond, Wilderness, Asilia. Private plunge pools, sommelier-level wine lists, guides with 15+ years on the ground.

Safari, then the coast
Honeymoon Safari
A week on safari followed by a week on the coast — Zanzibar, Lamu or Mozambique. Private vehicles throughout, lodges chosen for privacy, and discreet touches in every room.

For children who'll remember it
Family Safari
Family-friendly camps with interconnecting rooms, bush schools and junior-ranger programmes. Game drives pitched to the youngest traveller, with optional adventure activities for older teens.

Two million animals on the move
Migration Safari
Timed to the herd — calving in February, Grumeti crossings in June, Mara River in August–October. Mobile camps follow the migration north; we book the right one for your month.

Cameras first, everything else second
Photographic Safari
Specialist vehicles (bean bags, low windows, power outlets), dawn-to-dusk pacing, and private guides who understand light. Often scheduled in the Mara conservancies or the Okavango.

For travellers who've already driven
Walking Safari
Multi-day walking in Mana Pools, South Luangwa or Laikipia. Armed guides, fly-camping where possible, no roads. The most unmediated way to see Africa.

Three weeks, two or more countries
Expedition & Multi-Country
East + Southern Africa combinations, Rwanda + Tanzania, or Namibia end-to-end. Built for return travellers who've done the classics and want the less-obvious next step.
Every trip we run is private.
These are starting points, not packages. Tell us the hybrid you have in mind — a luxury family migration safari, say — and we'll make that.
